I promise to run barefoot through the grass this summer
I promise to stop the ice cream man at least once a week
and buy a popsicle that will stain my fingers and my shirt cherry red
I promise to run under the sprinkler and laugh as I do so, even though the water is cold
I promise to stand outside during a summer thunderstorm and smell the cool rain as it hits the hot pavement and maybe even dance a little as the rain gets harder
I promise to chase fireflies at night and butteflies during the day
I promise to remember what it's like to be a kid in summer
I promise to never let that kid in me go

I promise to curse the ice cream man every time he drives by and guilts me into shelling out two bucks per popsicle (times 4)
But....
I'm a dad.
That's my job.
I remember what it's like to be a kid in summer.
I didn't have to pay for it.

Nice one. I am getting sick of my work. I really need a break and really want to "run barefoot through the grass this summer" and also "to stand outside during a summer thunderstorm and smell the cool rain" with a tension free mind.

yesterday i treated my whole staff to soft
dripping ice cream cones from the
ice cream truck
